In 2016 SWAP undertook a Quality Assessment Review (QAR) to measure its conformance to the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF). We are proud to have been externally assessed and found to be in conformance to the Standards.
The Standards suggest that such a review should be carried out at least every five years. However, at SWAP we are on a continuous drive to improve and therefore our Management Team decided it would be good practice to complete the review every three years. This is our second external assessment, both confirming that SWAP is in conformance to the Standards.
We stake our reputation strongly on quality and professionalism. In fact, 65% of our staff (which includes non-operational staff) are qualified Auditors or Accountants. Of those who are not yet qualified, 45% are currently undertaking professional studies. Customer feedback on assignments is excellent, currently achieving 83% against a target of 80%; where 75% would represent good and 60% satisfactory. One of our Client Officers commented:
“It is not surprising that other authorities have joined SWAP recently and that others are keen to be part of the company. It is not just because the staff are highly professional, well trained and well led auditors. It is not just because the day rates are demonstrably Value for Money. What SWAP are delivering for Somerset County Council is a modern, flexible and engaged service that helps us control our business in a period of unprecedented change.” – Martin Gerrish, Strategic Manager, Finance Governance – Somerset County Council
